In May 2025 Will and Anna got married at Stockton House – it was a beautiful day!
They’re both from Staffordshire but moved to London and when they were wedding planning, they could have chosen anywhere in between.
Here’s the story of how they chose Stockton and what it was like, as told by Anna…
Reluctant to visit and then impressed
Will’s mum found Stockton House as a potential venue on a wedding website but we nearly dismissed it as it said a maximum of 100 guests, so we thought it would be small. We almost didn’t even view it, but I am so pleased we did.
At the time, they only had two weddings on the website as it hadn’t long been renovated so we felt it was a little bit of a gamble – it wasn’t the operation it is now and we’d also never been there before. Other venues we were considering were places we had been to for family meals, drive in movies, Christmas carols and that sort of thing.
When we got there we were so impressed, as we were driving up the driveway I genuinely felt transported to our wedding day – it feels so private that you forget where you are, it is its own little world.
We met Amy, who is nothing short of great.

Church next door and an interior that had everything – it was perfect
It was important to us to have a church wedding, so it was perfect that St Chad’s is on the site, and we also wanted an orangery, and the one at Stockton is beautiful.
I had images of people walking straight from the church to the wedding breakfast, it was the perfect setting, like a movie.
When we walked inside the building it had everything – it is really fresh but really classy as well, airy inside even though it is an old house… a lovely polished interior space that feels really welcoming, it feels grand, but also feels like home.
And the location – it is really peaceful but isn’t difficult to get to, accessible but also quite secluded.
Other venues we looked at didn’t hold a candle to it – the operation just felt so smooth and it was the only venue that seemed to genuinely care about us as a couple rather than just a booking, we just felt so safe with Amy in charge.

Not just a wedding day
From start to finish it was such a joy. The entire day went so well, we were stress free and able to enjoy the dream-like feeling and concentrate on being with our family all day. We didn’t feel we had to be aware of any of the operation side, any of the cogs turning – I was just floating all day.
One thing that made a huge difference was having the house for the weekend – we had it on Friday night and would recommend that to anybody.
It was so worth it as the run up felt personal and relaxed. We had all our family there and you could soak it all in before, which helped me feel calm and elevated on the wedding day, able to soak in every moment of the day.
A lot of places don’t offer you the venue the night before or you have to book 30 rooms, but at Stockton it was perfect and didn’t make a huge difference to the cost of the wedding overall.

Staff that felt like family
The staff were great – everyone said how lovely they were all day, our guests kept commenting on how kind everyone was.
There were so many little touches too – six months before the wedding Amy asked me what my favourite breakfast was but they didn’t do iced coffee. As I was getting ready the staff came in and they’d learned how to make them just for me – I didn’t ask for that, it was a lovely attention to detail to us as people which brought a magic moment to the day and felt special.
Amy’s daughter even brought me my bouquet in the morning. I felt so honoured to have their family involved in our day.
We were able to customise our own cocktails for the drinks reception on the terrace too – and everyone was talking about it. People also told me it was the best wedding food they had ever had, Tom was fantastic and helped create our bespoke menu with us.
Stockton in one sentence…
A fresh and inviting classy English home where you and guests can relax and celebrate, while feeling more like family rather than clients.
