Stockton House was proud to welcome the established Network of Women for the first time.
The business event, run by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, was sold out and saw around 50 people visit our 18th century Georgian venue for a networking meeting in style.
There was a buzz as the group visited our Grade II listed venue, with comments heard about how beautiful it was and how light and welcoming the rooms were.
Room decoration
We set out the Garden Room in a similar style to when it is used for a wedding breakfast, giving it the perfect communal feel for the 60-second introductions from attendees and ensuring everyone was able to be involved easily.
Round tables helped sparked conversations and small table flowers ensured everyone could see and hear guest speaker Amelia Redge from Reech, who spoke about ‘Rewriting the Rules of Leadership as a Woman in Business’ – we thought of everything!
The guest’s view
Kirsty Smallman, Shropshire Chamber board member and director of J&PR said: “It was my first visit to Stockton House and it was beautiful.
“The setting was glorious and I can only imagine what it would be like on a sunny day.
“It is the perfect venue for an idyllic wedding but so many other events too such as a charity ball, team building and corporate events.
“I love the fact that the church is just next door too.”
The message
Amelia shared her successful and inspirational career journey with many messages and reminders for the group, including to be a good person, create opportunities for others as there’s always space for everyone, to seek mentors external to your own organisation, to surround yourself with brilliant people and most importantly to protect the time you need for yourself.
The 60-second pitches were filled with messages of empowerment and emotional testimonials to others in the room for support both personally and in business.
We were also privileged to give the guests a tour of the house and provide them with a buffet lunch too.
About the group
Network of Women aims to be a relaxed group where women can connect and forge mutually beneficial relationships with like-minded individuals from across the region. It offers the chance to meet new people, gain fresh insights, and elevate your business.
Women from all types of businesses in Shropshire are welcome and – if they wish – have the opportunity to share their successes and knowledge with the group.
At the event at Stockton, Linda from Apley Estate told the story of the venue and how it had been renovated and is now used for weddings, parties, wakes, business events and much more – we gave all attendees an invite to return for their own event!
