Just a short walk down the lane from our beautiful property is the magnificent and historic church of St. Chad, where your Christening could take place. There has always been a special relationship between our property (Built as a rectory to the church in 1702) and St. Chads and we’re lucky to be able to share that with you when you hire Stockton house for your Christening or Baptism.

Can Stockton House host christening or baptism ceremonies on-site?
Yes, Stockton House can host your christening or baptism ceremonies at their estate. With full access to the grounds, guests can attend the ceremony at our traditional on-site church, followed by a short walk back to Stockton House to begin the celebrations.
Do you provide both indoor and outdoor spaces for the celebration?
Certainly. When you book a christening or baptism with us, you will have access to both the indoor reception rooms and the outdoor terrace and garden areas. Depending on the nature of your celebration, our team can help guide you through your best options for getting the most out of the estate.
What is included in the exclusive hire for a christening or baptism event?
When you book a christening or baptism event with us, you gain full access to the Stockton estate for the day. This includes the garden and outdoor areas, reception rooms, and the secret walled dining area, as well as our in-house catering team. However, the church must be booked separately.
What types of food and drink packages are available?
Stockton House offers a high-standard, in-house catering service for all its exclusive events. We take everything into consideration, from the event schedule to the season, and to any individual dietary requirements, to ensure you and your guests receive the best culinary experience. Bespoke menus only on request.
How many guests can Stockton House accommodate for a christening/welcoming party?
Depending on how you wish to make use of the Stockton estate, capacity may vary. Typically, we recommend our secret walled garden dining room that can comfortably seat 100 guests and later accommodate 120 standing guests.
Is accommodation available for guests to stay overnight?
Yes, at Stockton House we provide guests with seven en-suite bedrooms where they can relax and unwind at the end of a busy day. Check-in time is 3 pm, and check-out is 11 am.
How far in advance should we book a christening celebration?
We always recommend booking as early as possible so that you can secure your spot and our team can start to prepare all the necessary arrangements for your big event. If you plan on hosting your event on a weekend, public holiday or season holiday, we highly recommend you book as much in advance as possible as these dates can quickly fill up.
Can we arrange a venue viewing before booking?
Yes, in fact, we encourage all our visitors to arrange a viewing before booking with us so that they can get a good feel of the venue and stir up some creativity for them. You’ll be free to explore the gardens, our listed building and dining areas with the accompaniment of our team that can take you through all the details of each room and answer any questions you have.
